Bangkok Trip: Day 2
Date: 12 July 08 (Saturday), 7.30am (8.30am in Singapore)
Early in the morning, our alarm clocks rang. It's so nice to sleep awhile long, that it always take us more than an hour before we really manage to get out of bed. Well... a long day to go, a good breakfast is essential.
Wah... The breakfast provided by our hotel looks not bad right? Ha ha.. I thought so too... We really had a very heavy breakfast before setting off to take the river taxi. And because of that, we actually didn't have lunch! Ha ha...
After registering for the river taxi tour to the floating market, there were still some free time to roam around. Out of curiosity, we walked into Shangri La Hotel which is just beside BTS Station.
I'm hugging a pigeon. After adjusting for quite some time to take this photo, I then realise that pigeon can actually be lifted up and re-positioned. -_-" Ha ha...
Ok, time to go for the river taxi tour now. There a way to board the boat. Look how clumpsy I was... ha ha... It was quite fun, just that sometimes, the water will splash up.
We were also brought to this place where the monk rear some fishes in the river. We bought some bread from them to feed the fishes. And guess what? Just when my boy tried to throw a bigger piece of bread into the river, the fishes swamped towards it, causing the water to splash upwards. I was drenched. Don't know whether to laugh or cry, but I just laughed in the end. (Though the water was abit stinky. Eiks!)
We stop by the floating market. Overtime, due to congestion, large portion of the floating market has been shifted to inland. So there were only a few small boats around selling food. It's ok, we still went up the jetty to go & take a look what they are selling.
Look at what I have. Yummy! It's a Fanta Green ice-stick! It's so cheap & yummy. 2 for just THB5 (S$0.20). So shiok to eat something cold on such a hot day... Wooo....
After the river taxi tour, they dropped us somewhere near the Royal Grand Palace. Decided to go in & take a look despite the weather was really really hot & scotching.
We went round the Royal Palace taking photos, but know nothing much about the history of that place. Suddenly we wish to have a tour guide with us, but of coz not a too long-winded one. Ha ha...
After visiting the Royal Palace, we wanted to visit the Wat Pho temple. However, as it's a Saturday, and earlier in Jan, the Thai Princess passed away. So every afternoon, there'll some ritual ceremony by the monks in the temple. We were told to go back at 4pm, but we've pre-arranged for a massage session at 3.30pm. In the end, we decided to give it a miss.
Went back to hotel for a quick shower & rest. Who knows, the traffic was so bad that we got stuck in the traffic jam for 45mins. In the end, we got rush off after shower. Went to this place called HealthLand Spa & Massage. They are really good, not too hush. It's so relaxing that my dear boy fell asleep snoring.. ha ha...
On the way back to hotel, we stop by a stall along the street for our DINNER!!! Yes.. it's Cha Siew noodles. And guess what? It's only THB30 (S$1.20) so cheap!!!! It's cheap & delicious. Super nice...
We headed back to hotel after our wonderful dinner for our next programme on our itinerary - Lebua, State Tower. It's the most high class building in Bangkok, so dressing attitude must be met before they allow you to enter.
We headed to the 64th Floor Sky Bar - Sirocco. A very porsch & classy place with good ambience. Initially I thought we are going there just to have a drink & take photos at the Sky Bar. As we walk in, my boy went to the reception & said that he made a reservation. OMG!!!
While waiting for the waitress to prepare our table, we went to the Sky Bar to take some snaps first...

We were not allowed to take any photos at the dining area. I guess that's just to prevent too many people taking photos everywhere & disturb the guests dining there. But, clever us, used our handphone camera & also the timer of our cameras to take photos from our seats without the waitresses noticing.
By the time we left Lebua, it's past 12midnight already. So exhausted but yet enjoying... Back to hotel for rest to replenish energy for the next day's.... shopping.... Zzz...
