A Christmas Trip to... Batam!!

This year.. I finally decided to have a short getaway during christmas with my sistaz, and we went to... Batam!!! Ha ha.. nothing fantastic... but... ok lah... it's a relaxing short trip to enjoy the cheap things there and to get away from work...

We arrived on 24 Dec 08, all hungry and abit tired. So, didn't really want to go far (plus the weather was bad... raining non-stop since morning. All thanks to the curse by Wenhong. =P)

Nvm... anyway after dinner at A&W found in Nagoya Hill Shopping Mall, we went separate ways for abit of shopping before going back to hotel with all our cup noodles and drinks to count down to christmas!!! Ha ha...

5... 4... 3... 2... 1... Merry Christmas!!!

From our hotel window, we could see people shooting fireworks outside in the streets... so beautiful...

Ok... time for Pressie Xchange!!! Ha ha... before that, let's take a group photo... eh... but how? Ha ha... well... after several outings together and always trying to self take photos using the timer, this time... it was so EASY!! Ha ha... With just 1 shot, it's PERFECT!!! Ha ha...

That night, we had our cup noodles and choya and board games with us... all the way till 3am in the morning... All so tired and sleepy... Zzz...

After a good breakfast, we went for a swim at the pool. The weather was still quite cold and windy after the rain the day before. Worst of all, the water is freezing cold!!!!!! Bbbbbrrrrrr......

It really took me long... before I plunged into the pool for a good swim. Then we decided to have a race.. ha ha... the guys are to piggyback the girls and walk across the pool to the other end and turn back. This Tony and Xiaoting really play cheat sia... They just decided to quit the game and step aside to cheer for us... So how, I just keep floating that makes it difficult for us to move forward, while Lester and Wanfen moved really fast to and fro... Ha ha...

The next programme for the day is... shopping again... We wanted to go to Waterfront Centre to have some water activities, but the weather wasn't good and it's too far from our hotel which would cost quite alot to travel there (about S$15 per cab per trip). So in the end, we changed our plan to go Batam Centre Mega Mart to shop instead.

Our 1st attempt to hail a cab by the road.. ha ha... it wasn't easy initially coz we don't know if any cabs will stop for us and not sure if it's safe. But... actually it wasn't that difficult. And... it's so much cheaper (40,000 Ruppiah = S$5.30) than what the cabs parked outside our hotel offered (100,000 Ruppiah = S$13.20).

We went in 2 groups to Batam Centre Mega Mart. When we reached there, the 1st thing that we could smell and see is.... J.Co Donuts!!! Woaw!!! We were so attracted to it that we started planning how many dozens of donuts to buy. The price is soooo cheap that you just can't resist. 2 dozens is only 91,000 Ruppiah = S$12. That's like half the price of what we can get in Singapore!!

So... ha ha... after lunch, we went for shopping separately and met up again at 3pm. We stopped at J.Co cafe for drinks and donuts for our teabreak. It's so wonderful that you can feel the donut melts in your mouth. The donuts are so soft and nice and one can easily eat 3-4. Even our small small small eater Xiaoting who usually feels very sick after having 1 donut in Singapore, she easily ate 2 without feeling sick of it or full. So.... we bought 2 dozens back to hotel for tonight's supper.. ha ha.... on top of our regular cup noodles and choya.. ha ha....

After our shopping at the mega mart for more cup noodles and mineral water, we went to this restaurant called Golden Prawn Batam for dinner. The seafood there are mostly fresh and alive. So you can pick the crabs and fish that you want then they will send them to the kitchen to prepare the dishes according to your preference.

Ha ha.. Think the picture is not very clear, but I was actually holding to the string of a crab. So scared that it will untie itself and turn around to bite my hand... Ha ha...

Initially, we planned to go for manicure after dinner. But unknowingly, we sat there chit chatting until 8pm. Oh no... so we quickly rush down to Nagoya Hills Shopping Centre, but it was too late. As for the guys, they left for massage until 10pm. So the 3 ladies decided to continue shopping.

Xiaoting and I found a Wacoal bra that's quite pretty and it's really cheap there. It's their new arrival and it's only 150,000 Ruppiah = S$19.70!!

Back to hotel with all the shopping bags... so tired... We had our supper with cup noodles, J.Co donuts and choya again while playing another round of board games.. Ha ha...

We didn't plan anything much for today other than the body scrub + massage session, so we could afford to sleep abit more, had our breakfast then go back and sleep again until 11+am to check out.

Remember the last night, the guys went for massage, they actually found quite a good and professional massage shop called Isabella Massage. So we went back to do a 2hour body scrub + massage which costs 150,000 Ruppiah only!!

It was really quite good, the place is clean, and the service is good. They also let us have a proper bath after the scrub with all the toiletaries ready for your usage. Highly recommended!!
