A Journey to Cambodia (Part 2) ...

Date: 7 Dec '07, 9pm (continued)

Dinner was at Toulen Restaurant which all 5 groups met up. We also met Aunt Shirley and hubby there. There were performance entertainment like the goldfish dance, the bamboo dance, etc.

However, we were too tired after a day of travelling. So several of us left half way thru the performance to go back to hotel for a good hot bath.... Wah... Shi-ok leh...

As usual, we went for a drink again, but this time round, the lounge in the hotel is pathetically small. It's just a small sitting corner... It's ok.. So long it's big enough to house us... While sitting there, just felt that drinking with them, the company is good, but not the conversation topics. Kind of overdose of complaints. Ha ha... At there, we also met 文鸿 & 田裁 at 1st hand. Nice to meet them... but... there comes another dosage of complaints... Aarghhh....

Date: 8 Dec '07

As you can see, there's no time specified for today's entry because this is written on the following day. Why leh? You'll know later...

Early in the morning, we set off to visit Angkor Wat. Oh ya, we really changed a tour guide... They explained that it's because the previous one had something on at home, but I've my doubts to it. Not too sure if it's just an excuse. Sigh... Poor thing... *cross my fingers...

Angkor Wat is nice but the weather is to terribly hot. I'm just like a leaking tap, "raining" all the time. The 2nd stop of the day was Ta Prohm Temple. Strangely, the unique thing there is that you'll see trees grown on the ancient temple. Sadly, the old trees are growing in a way that the tree thunk & branches are forcing the rocks of the ancient temples apart. So probably in years to come, more parts of the temples will collapse. (Thankfully we came to visit now, or else, then really nothing to see already...)

At the end of the walk, mum saw this tour guide of other tour groups folding star using coconut tree leaves or plam tree leaves? Anyway it's the long long leaf lah.. Oh... could be pandan leaves hor.. hmm.. ha ha... He only intended to make sufficient for his tour group members, but out of courtesy, he made one for mum. (Ha ha.. as usual, what's new. That's my mum.)

For lunch, we went for another buffet session again. (Again? Buffet??!??!) I realised that the cuisine here is very close to Vietnamnese & Thai cuisine. (Eh... I know I'm abit slow, but ya... took me so long to confirm.) Kind of like the green curry & the noodles (dunno what's it's called but ya got photo.)

Oh... there's also something called Cambodia traditional cake which is quite nice too. (The little golden brown thing on the plate) It comes with a special type of dip. Actually, I wasn't feeling well during lunch, coz had diarrhea. So didn't really eat alot... Haiz... wasted...

Since we had some extra time, tour guide arranged to bring us to go for some shopping spree. At there, the few 酒鬼 (including myself... eh... but I'm not a 酒鬼. Ha ha...) bought 7 bottles of red wine (mainly Merlot) for tonight's party at 坚文's room.

Ok, next stop, Southern Gate of Angkor Thom (大吴哥). You can find 49 buddha face sculptures with the "Cambodian Smile" (That's what the tour guide says). In addition of another 5 similar buddha sculptures at the gates, that will make a total of 54 buddha sculptures in the entire Angkor Thom area symbolising 54 provinces of the Siem Colony. (I think so lah.. cannot remember clearly already coz I was half asleep then.. ha ha..)

By the time we finish view Angkor Thom, it's already 5pm. All of us were super tired and thought that it's the last stop for the day. But NO!!!! We went on to climp up a mountain to the top to wait for the sunset. Along the way up, mummy was panting away terribly. I was pretty worried though, but there's nothing much I can do. So I held on to her hand and walk up with her slowly at the back of everyone. Mummy, 加油! Luckily, she managed to reach the top safely.

After that, I went on alone to continue to climb 3-4 flights of very very steep and narrow stairs up to the very top. In order to capture the beautiful scenic view of the sunset, we waited for pretty long before the sun starts to set.

Everyone crowd there & were busy snapping. While waiting, we said, "Wah... 等这个咸鸭蛋好久啊!其实,从山下看上来,也蛮是个大奇景。因为山上在一个时候有那么多人都面着同一个方向拍照!" Ha ha... which is quite true...

After the sun really set, we started walking down. As the crowd was really overwhelming, so a few of us decided to jump from where we were to another platform and take an alternative route. Woaw... that was quite challenging. But ok lah... we helped each other and tried to grab each other when jumping. When walking down, there were no lights along the way. So it was really very dark.

At night, we had a "gala dinner" at our hotel backyard as it was the last nigth of this whole trip. There were games for entertainment and I got sabo-ed to play one of the games... (Thanks leh...) Ha ha... too bad, in the end, he got ounished instead by having his face drawn with panda eyes & patterns (graffiti). Ha ha... 美美喔。。。可是我没拍到照!

After dinner, our group went on to have Part II of the celebration. Almost all of us went to 坚文's room for the wine drinking session. As he was rushing for time, we drank pretty fast & I got abit "high" in the end.

Eh... Actually, it's not just abit high but quite bad. Want to sleep but can't sleep coz I'll feel very goggy. In the end, I almost slept in the toilet. Luckily, mummy don't know about it. Just don't want her to worry. Hmm.. looks like I should improve on my drinking... hmm.... ha ha...

So now you all know why I only manage to fill in this entry the next day? Heex...

Date: 9 Dec '07, 4.15pm (Singapore)

。。The End...
